I have worked in Marketing, Events and PR ever since I graduated from #Huddersfield #University many years ago now. I graduated with a Bsc (Hons) Textile Design degree and had a dream of working in fashion. I spent around 10 years in fashion as a Buyers Assistant and then working for a large fashion company doing the Marketing, PR and Events for 12 key brands. Both jobs taught me so much and helped me develop as a person. However due to a long commute to London I left this job and started looking for a job in my home town of Cambridge. It is then that I had the pleasure of realising another dream, working for a Wedding Venue as an Event Planner and I loved it. It was such a buzz making sure all the Weddings I managed went to plan, ensuring the brides and grooms and their guests had the perfect day. From this job I went onto work for a Pharmaceutical Marketing agency where I learnt to help plan and run 1 day conferences up to a large 3 day conference and trade show events; one highlight was planning a party on a boat in Barcelona.
Always striving for more and to develop my skills my next challenge led me to join the family business ‘AJW Distribution’. This was a brand new Industry for me but what an opportunity. I have learnt so many new skills over the past 7 years including HR, Health & Safety, developing the Marketing for a new business, including a website, catalogue and a brand new marketing strategy. I have also planned a number of events and project managed moving depots and opening a new depot plus local advertising. This role is never quiet and one I am always learning new skills from; however, I feel I am missing something. I want to be able to help others and make my family proud by developing my own business by pursing a dream I have had for a number of years.
‘A Day of Calm’ has been in the pipeline for around 18 months now and although Covid put a stop to my idea of an event I have developed this idea into many other business ideas so watch this space for the number of exciting new concepts available from ‘A Day of Calm’.
